HUGGY BEARS ABOUT

Come hug the Bears !

Vienna-based artists have now a place where the different phases of any creation can be taken care of, embraced and hugged dearly. From research to rehearsal, from rehearsals to showings and finally to premieres at WUK. To do so we are now able to offer access to our studios 24/7 and 365 days a year according the artist’s needs. Every year 4 to 6 projects are being accompanied by our well-named mentoring program “Huggy Bears”.

Huggy Bears provides mentoring in various fields for emerging artists to help professionalize their work.

A yearlong support that entails studio space as often as needed, workshops, artistic and administrative support, networking, public showings, sharing and finally premieres under professional conditions. Huggy Bears program aims at creating a challenging and enriching environment for the artists.

This mentoring program claims for a certain flexibility in order to closely follow and meet specific and unique requirements. Huggy Bears transforms and shapes up as the project goes.

Given that constraints and pressures increase inevitably during any creative processes we work hard on providing an osmotic frame in which the artists can develop their own and unique way.

This program manages to place the artists on the viennese artistic map. So their names are out. So the public as well as the professionals can get in touch with the Bears.

Huggy Bears as a program and as an Art Place completes what is already existing in terms of residency provided by viennese institutions and festivals. We could  not proceed without their support and understanding. Our aim is to enlarge, to publicise the performing arts. In these weird times of confinement and individualism, we believe that live art as a commune practice is more than ever necessary, relevant, vital… you name it.

In a nutshell we counsel, we organise, we produce  workshops, face to face meetings in administration, production, technic and artistic matters, and finally show premieres with the great help and support from our network of partners in Vienna:  WUK, Brut,  Impulstanz Festival, Universities.

This initiative has been designed by Caro Madl and Philippe Riéra.

We have been working in the performance field over 30 years and along our practice we met and experienced great residency and support programs in Austria and abroad. Following a bottom up strategy we try to offer good working conditions for the benefit of the artists, the public and all citizens.

Welcome to Huggy Bears
